Ok, this is not *very* recent news, but Mr Milo and I got ourselves new wheels! I had originally blogged about this on the day we collected the car, but Mr Milo did not want it announced then as he had wanted to surprise the family first. Now that that's done, I'm free to blog about it (especially since he has already announced it in Multiply).
I'm too busy (and lazy) to write a whole new entry, so I'll just add a picture to the original, very private post and open it up to friends.

JH and I collected our first car today! :D
It is a white Hyundai Avante 1.6M. Total cost of the car is $37,699. OMV is about $9726 (must check the paperwork), COE $5116 (also must check paperwork).
We went to test drive cars on Sat 14 March 09. We test drove the Chevy Aveo and Optra, the Daihatsu Sirion and the Toyota Altis. We were interested in testing the Hyundai i30, and the Avante, but the SEs at the Hyundai dealer at the Auto Megamart in Eunos were either i) not interested in serving us, or ii) was rather annoying. The second time we went back to the same dealer, the lady SE served us, and Mr Milo managed to test the i30 (I like), but the Avante was rather popular, so we did not get a chance test it before we had to leave for dinner with the ILs.
The next day, we found another dealer at Paya Lebar, and finally got to test the Avante and i30 (I really like the handle of this car, but did not like the price difference quite so much. Ah well. Anyway, we went back home to think about it some more.
Monday 16 March 2009, we made another trip down to the auto dealer, and made a deposit on the car. (I was able to go down as it was the 1 week break). Told that the next shipment of cars were expected to arrive in mid- to end-April.
Wednesday 18 March 2009, we received word that we managed to secure the COE at $5116. (Price of Avante raised to $38,199 (??) but with $1500 in vouchers.)
Saturday 21 March 2009, we were informed that we have been allocated a car!!!!! A shipment had arrived and we were allocated one of the cars. :D
Sunday 22 March 2009. We made another trip down to the auto dealer and wrote many big checks. *money flying away*. Car should be in our hands in about 7 working days. We were promised before the end of the month. We wait more and more anxiously for the call with each passing day.
Thursday 26 March 2009. Car registration plate # SJP 4840 M registered to Mr Milo. Now we're *really* impatient. We called the dealer at least twice (over Friday and Saturday).
Monday 30 March 2009. About 2:10pm. Mr Milo receives THE CALL!!!! :D :D :D
