Here's a video I got of Jackie Chan.
Never figured me for a Jackie Chan fangirl? Neither did I. I just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Planned to met the Hubby at Vivocity one Monday evening (30 March 2009). I wanted to see what Daiso had to offer, so made my way up from the MRT station. At B1, I noticed a huge crowd of people waiting in line, and some rope barricades and figured that some celebrity was going to pass by. Since I wasn't a fangirl, I chuckled and went on my way. As I passed by two Chinese gentlemen questioning a security guard (#1) trying his best to keep the human traffic flowing, I overheard the words 'Jackie Chan'. And still I continued on my way. At the base of the escalator was another security guard (#2) also trying his best to keep the traffic flowing, so I decided to ask him whom they were expecting. 'Jackie Chan'. Hmm, I thought, as I got onto the escalator. I looked up and my jaw dropped. The place was filled with people. At every level, the corridors overlooking the atrium were packed with people, cameras were flashing, and there was a HUMONGOUS crowd at the atrium. At the top of the escalator were more rope barricades with a teaming mass of people behind them, and more security guards trying to keep people coming off the escalator to move along.
I figured that this meant that Jackie Chan would arrive relatively soon, and promptly went down the escalator again. I joined the queue of people at the side and fished out the camera. Something was wrong, however, there was no way I would be able to even catch a glimpse of Jackie where I was. I was too far from the entrance he was obviously using, and there were too many people there to even bother. Although there was a pathway where I was, it was again obviously not for him and his entourage, but for the folks going up from basement 2. Another lady commented as much, and figured out that he would probably bypass where we were and go straight to the escalator (where security #2 was). Conveniently, there was a barricade next to him (#2) and an escalator that was out of bounds to the public. (!) I asked her if she was going to go over then, and she replied to the negative. I, however, went over. And asked #2 if Jackie was going to pass by that way. He nodded. So I took a spot next to the barricade which was relatively empty of people. At this point in time, I still wasn't *very* sure that I wanted to wait, so I asked #2 when Jackie was expected to arrive. "Very soon" was the reply, so I decided to stay and wait. After all, it would take Hubby some time to get there, and I had a nice, unblocked spot and all. So I whipped out my handy compact camera and readied myself.
"He's here! He's here!"
I pointed my camera to the passage way and depressed the button.

I obviously did not even contemplate moving onto the escalator about the same time as he did so that I could get more footage. I blame it on my inexperience as a fangirl.
Don't ask why I turned the camera on its side at the end either. I do not have an answer to that.
*I thought that I wasn't successful in capturing the video, and have been going around telling the story of how I *almost* got a video of Jackie Chan. However, I managed to dig it out of the memory card via the computer.
I only found out that he was there to promote his The Shinjuku Incident when I googled about it the next day/
