Wow! Time just flew by. I find it a little hard to believe my son is now four and a half months old. It seemed like he was just born yesterday. And yet, some things are just a fuzzy memory now. I really should blog more frequently.
It wasn't so long ago that I was doing my confinement. Taking away the drama of the numerous (ok, three) confinement nannies, I still remember the frustration of being a new mother who did not know very much, and yet had to contend with various different opinions of how things should be done/carried out.
I remember feeling sad that he was smaller than the majority of the other June babies (even those who were early, like him), and that most of the clothes were still too big for him. (The only outfit that fit him well was a Petit Bateau romper/onesie I bought him (interestingly, for 3mths)) I've had to retire that romper some time back, and he has graduated to 'round 2' of the hand-me-downs.
I remember feeling out-of-sorts when I could understand Beau the cat better than I could my flesh and blood.
I remember when he would feel so tiny in my arms.
Now, he more of a little boy than a baby.
He can hold his head high up while on his tummy without complaining if he's in the mood.
He can flip back onto his back from a three-quarter position when he wakes from a nap.
He loves reading and being read to.
He loves it when people clap.
He (almost) never fails to smile when he sees Clipperty-Clop.
He can grasp rather well and his hand-eye-coordination is rather good.
He still loves to be cuddled.
He is rather chatty.
He is able to amuse himself when he wakes up in the morning and I will wake to him chatting with his various friends (Sleep Sheep, Frank the koala, Bear Bear and the animals on the mobile).
He does not really like to be in the car seat, but will smile broadly at the caterpillar/duck hanging from the headrest in recognition.
He does not like red lights much.
He loves 'Pat a Cake' and 'If you're happy and you know it'.
He more or less follows a routine for the day (wake up, play, eat, nap, wake up, play, bath, eat, nap, wake up, play, play, play (maybe nap), eat, fight sleep, turn in for the night).
He is not sleeping through the night yet, but I don't mind (except when he decides to wake every hour).
He fights sleep, but will adorably sing his own lullaby sometimes.
And now, I'm back to work. And I have mixed feelings about that. I find it so difficult to leave him in the mornings. And I only work two and a half days a week. And I just started. Will it get easier to leave him? I hope so, and yet, I hope not.
